Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for a Director of Product Analytics to directly influence how Rover makes decisions about our product experience, marketplace health, and company strategy. This person will lead our Product Analytics team and serve as a senior partner to Product and company leaders, bringing clear thinking and strong judgment to some of Rover’s most important questions.

We need a leader who can set direction, manage managers, influence senior stakeholders, and still enjoy diving deep when the work calls for it. The right person will raise the bar for how the team frames problems, evaluates evidence, and turns analysis into decisions.

You will bring strong product instincts, practical marketplace judgment, and the credibility to influence company decisions beyond the product roadmap. You will help turn customer behavior, marketplace dynamics, and product performance into clear choices for the business, then build the team, rituals, and standards that make that happen consistently.

This is a hybrid position that has the minimum expectation to work out of our Barcelona Office in the Poblenou neighborhood two days per week (Mondays and Thursdays). For this reason, candidates must be based in Barcelona or willing to relocate.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop Rover’s Product Analytics team, including analysts and analytics managers, with a focus on judgment, technical depth, and business impact

  • Set the analytics agenda for the product organization and connect it to company priorities, marketplace health, customer experience, and long-term growth

  • Partner with Product, Design, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, and executive leaders to identify the highest-value questions, frame tradeoffs, and shape roadmap and operating decisions

  • Establish clear metric frameworks for product and marketplace performance, including definitions, instrumentation expectations, reporting standards, and regular readouts for leaders

  • Raise the bar for experimentation at Rover: guide test design, statistical rigor, interpretation, and follow-through so experiments inform real decisions

  • Stay close to the technical work by reviewing analyses, writing or reading SQL as needed, pressure-testing assumptions, and coaching the team on better analytic methods

  • Work with Data Engineering and Data Infrastructure to improve data quality, modeling, tooling, and self-service access for product and business teams

  • Build the habits that help analytics drive change across the company, from stronger narratives and decision forums to better education for non-analytics partners

  • Hire, coach, and grow a team that can balance deep analysis with pragmatic business judgment

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in analytics, data science, or a closely related field, with significant time supporting product, growth, marketplace, or consumer technology teams

  • 5+ years of experience leading analytics teams, including experience managing managers and developing senior individual contributors

  • Strong product and business judgment; you can move from customer behavior to company-level implications without losing the details

  • Expert-level SQL and fluency with a modern analytics stack, including data warehouses, BI tools, product analytics platforms, and experimentation tools

  • Comfort writing analysis code in Python, R, or a similar language when the work calls for it

  • Deep understanding of experimentation, metric design, causal reasoning, and the common ways analyses can mislead decision-makers

  • Experience improving data foundations, including event instrumentation, metric definitions, data quality, and analytics workflows

  • A track record of influencing senior stakeholders and changing business or product direction through clear analysis and strong communication

  • Experience hiring, coaching, and raising technical standards for analysts and analytics managers

  • Marketplace, e-commerce, subscription, or other scaled consumer product experience is strongly preferred

  • An advanced degree in a quantitative field is helpful, but not required

Benefits of Working at Rover:

  • Long-term incentive plan with a company performance-based cash payout

  • Pension plan

  • Private medical insurance

  • 25 days PTO

  • Meal allowance and flexible compensation plan (transport and nursery)

  • Gym membership

  • €450 to cover the costs associated with the adoption of a pet

  • Annual €150 wellness reimbursement

  • Flexible work hours, sometimes you’ll need to be in at certain times, but on the whole, we’re pretty flexible when it comes to managing workload and time

  • Grab snacks, fresh fruit, in our kitchen to keep yourself going

  • Regular team activities, events, game nights, and more

  • Dog-friendly office
